Even though it's been almost 100 years, the interest in Titanic seems to live on in the younger generations. With Paul and I being about the same age...then of course now a younger croud is getting into it aswell...I wonder if interest in her will continue on forever? If not, I wonder what will happen to her and her artifacts if no one cares about her any longer?

I think interest will continue for some time yet. Titanic is in a really bad condition and will soon collapse on herself. I think many items, such as lifejackets, some wooden items may soon float to the surface, generating MORE interest in the subject. She has many fans already, due to the romance and sheer scale of the disaster. It is close to many peoples hearts for many reasons.

I never thought about that, I figured that stuff was so water logged that they were down there for good! That's fascinating!

The items would be deteriorated by now or consumed by the oceans organisms. The only thing that will happen is artifacts inside her will be lost. And the artifact that she, herself, is will be lost. I don’t see anything floating to the top. Keep in mind that most of the woodwork is gone. What floated to the surface did so the moment she sank. These items were recovered or floated off to distant shores following her sinking.

Sadly it is predicted by some, that her superstructure will collapse within the next 15 years.
Items from Titanic are under to much water and pressure to float to the surface.
The ship has greatly deteriorated since she was found but it is amazing to see the good condition of her interior from footage from James Cameron's dive in 2001.
