There used to be alot of talk about raising the Titanic. Obviously now she is too fragile. But had we tried earlier, would it have been possible? Could it still be possible to get her up in one piece?

They actually planned it a short while after she sank. Unfortunately, this was impossible for many reasons.
The supposed salvagers did not know the location of Titanic, and the co-ordinates given at the time were miles out.
The technology at that time would not have been advanced enough to have carried out such a feat, the submersibles of that age were primitive in comparison to today.
At the time of the sinking, It was widely believed that she sank whole, and was strongly dismissive of the many witness statements who said the ship broke in two. This was explained off as the boilers exploding, thus creating a sound like the ship breaking in half.

Well, now that we know she is in two peices, and exactly where she is, even though she is crumbling as we speak, I wonder if there could be a way to bring her up. Obviously just "grabbing" her won't work, she'd fall apart. But I wonder if there might be some way to make a "cradle" for her, to support her on the way up...probably not today, but I bet in a nother 50 years or so it will be possible, but unfortunatley most of her will be gone by then

I would love it if it was possible to somehow 'section' her off, sort of build a huge air pocket around her that could be entered by people. People could then walk around the wreck. That would be awesome ;D....but impossible

Wow, I was just picturing that...that would actually be pretty creepy. I remember I had a dream once that she was resurrected, and I was walking around inside her and I had the most eerie sick feeling while doing it (and I was only dreaming it) I could imagine how it would actually be if you could do it. I think I would break down. Not just because it would be so sad to be where all those people perished, but to actually be IN her...that would be something incredible...

Could it still be possible to get her up in one piece? It is not in dispute that the Titanic cannot or will not be raised. Yet, for many, there resonates one question; what if? As the old saying goes, ‘if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we’d all have a wonderful Christmas’. I believe the only connection we’ll have with her is in artifacts brought up from the abyss. If you would like to feel as though you’re walking through her, in her present condition, purchase “Ghosts of the Abyss.” That is the only chance to lay eyes on something that has not been seen for nearly 93 years! Fascinating footage from inside the wreck would make any Titanic enthusiast stare with mouth agape. The ‘big piece’, as it has been dubbed, is available for view at the Titanic exhibit operated by R.M.S. Titanic, Inc. Along with many other artifacts, there is an opportunity to see a door from C-Deck (as I recall); it is simply amazing! ;D

I saw "Ghosts of the Abyss" at the Imax in 3D. Now THAT was an experience! Having it so large in 3D right in front of you was really cool! It was actually my husbands' and I's first "date"!
