What is the closest you've ever come to the Titanic? For me it was seeing the artifact when they were on tour. I have not had the privilage to go to any museums or the grave sites in Halifax (although being Canadian, I WILL make it there one day).

Well, apart from the family connection, the closest I have came is my regular visits to the Merseyside Maritime Museum. They have lots of artefacts, including a lifejacket, letters, badges from the lifeboats and a large builders promotional model from Harland and Wolff, which was made BEFORE Titanic.

I've seen the lifejackets too...very sad, tears out your heart. I think the saddest thing I saw at the exhibit was someones toothbrush...I don't know why but it just really got to me. Oh and they also had someones (male's) outfid layed out, jacket, pants, socks...like it was ready to be put on...

I have not had the privilage to go to any museums or the grave sites in Halifax (although being Canadian, I WILL make it there one day). The closest I have come to Titanic, outside of my visit to the artifact display, was walking through it in a dream. It was real enough that I opened doors, interacted with fellow passengers and roamed from room to room, walked down the grand staircase onto D-Deck. I recall, in the dream, being on deck and staring out at the ocean as it passed. That is the closest I will ever be to Titanic, in my mind…I was on her.

I had a similar dream once, only that the titanic was resurected from the deep and I walked through her...I woke up so sick to my stomache and felt so odd for days...I couldn't quite place my finger on the feeling...it was sad, scared, awe struck...and more...it was really weird and it really felt that I was inside her! I could even smell her!

The closest I've ever come to the Titanic is watching the films I would dearly love to go to a exhibition of some sort - there's never any near me though

The nearest I've been is an exhibition in Birmingham.
The things that really got to me were first, second and third class tickets that had been bought. I couldn't help thinking that they could have been buying a ticket to their deaths.
The other things that really got to me was a small area in which there was a display case with a life jacket from Titanic in it. From speakers round about we could hear "Nearer My God To Thee" playing and it brought tears to my eyes
