One of the new features of proboards is the 'Karma' feature. This enables members to rate other members. You can either Exalt, which is to praise, or you can Smite, which is to fault. This will run for a trial period, can you leave your comments and feedback regarding how you feel towards it. If you do not like it, it will go. Rating is only allowed once per hour.

Hi Paul, I have seen the Karma system being used on other forums i am a member of. I think it's a good way to let other member's know that you enjoyed their post, however, people do get very upset if they get a negative karma, and I have known members to continuly give another member bad karma because of a personal grudge. As long as it's used correctly, I think it will be fine. Thats just my opinion anyway

It is like a respect level, all members here seem to be friendly with each other too. If there were to be any members who were unfriendly here and / or abusive with others, they would probably end up banned anyway.

True Bess. But like Paul said people here like each other for the most part. Ok, for the whole.

I agree with all of you, I can't see there being any problems with it on this board cause we're all luverly like you say Paul, if they were that nasty and spiteful to smite peeps continually then they'd be deleted anyway

I don’t mind the karma feature but on boards that I have run we have had problems due to bad karma but I know many boards, which use karma with no problems.

Many individuals abuse the feature to degrade those whom they do not agree with on a particular issue. It is my opinion that the Karma feature remain in trial mode for an unspecified period of time. Of course, the true value or disadvantage of this feature will not be observed until the message board becomes exceedingly vigorous. - X

Of course, if it becomes apparent karma is being abused by members, it will be disabled.
